Janie and Cam’s renovation of a classic 1970’s home in Ballarat is one we just love. We had a chat with Janie to talk us through their bathroom renovation!
Q: Tell Us About Your Home
A: My fiancé Cameron and I purchased our house two years ago almost to the day! It was our second Reno, our first Reno was a small house and there was no real structural changes. With our new home we made a lot of structural changes, we actually gutted the inside of those completely!
We extended in two sections adding an extra bedroom and a bathroom, we also added on a double car garage. We kept all of the external bricks (brown) and had them rendered and had the garage and back outdoor area re done in recycled red brick!
Q: Walk Us Through The House Before Renovating
A: The house was a 1970’s model, it had beautiful hardwood bones and a concrete slab! The house had lots of funky features such as a glass brick wall, a curved wall through the centre of the living area and all of the bedrooms were different shapes and none of them were symmetrical. The exterior featured lots of blue, purple and red!
We fully re landscaped and removed plenty of overgrown shrubs, trees, gnomes and a cubby house! The house was very much in need of some love when we purchased it.

Q: What Style Is Your House Now?
A: The style of the house now is a mixture of coastal and modern Scandinavian.

Q: What Do You Love About Cliffstone Ice Matt and White Penny Rounds in This Laundry, Kitchen and Bathroom Renovation Project?
A: We purchased our tiles, grout and silicone from the Ballarat store and we LOVE our tiles!!! They compliment each other so beautifully and are very much our style! The large Cliffstone tile makes for less grout lines which we love as it’s cleaner and makes the room feel larger! As for the penny rounds you just get lost in them, they are so mesmerising, because they are white matt they are still simple and clean but the texture gives the room a bit of a pop!
